Article Types

The Nature-Nurture Journal of Psychology (NNJP) accepts a variety of article types, all adhering to COPE guidelines and American Psychological Association (APA) standards. All manuscripts are peer-reviewed, receive a DOI, are citable, published in PDF format, indexed in relevant digital archives, and checked for plagiarism.

Tier 1 Article Types

1. Original Research

  • Primary studies or replicative research, including disconfirming results.

  • Max word count: 12,000; Figures/Tables: up to 15

  • Format: Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion

2. Systematic Review

  • Synthesis of existing research using defined methods. Must include PRISMA flow diagram, funding information, and detailed analysis.

  • Max word count: 12,000; Figures/Tables: up to 15

  • Format: Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion

3. Methods

  • New or established methods of significance. Must provide step-by-step procedure, validation, and expected results.

  • Max word count: 12,000; Figures/Tables: up to 15

  • Format: Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Equipment, Methods, Results, Discussion

4. Review

  • Comprehensive analysis of a developed field, addressing schools of thought, current research gaps, and future directions.

  • Max word count: 12,000; Figures/Tables: up to 15

5. Mini Review

  • Concise summary of recent developments in a focused area.

  • Max word count: 3,000; Figures/Tables: up to 2

6. Hypothesis and Theory

  • Presentation of a novel hypothesis or theory based on recent findings.

  • Max word count: 12,000; Figures/Tables: up to 15

7. Clinical Trial

  • Results of interventional health studies. Registration in a public trial registry required.

  • Max word count: 12,000; Figures/Tables: up to 15

8. Case Report

  • Unique clinical cases with unexpected outcomes. Informed consent required.

9. General Commentary

  • Critical analysis or commentary on notable studies.

  • Max word count: 1,000; Figures/Tables: 1

10. Editorial

  • Articles from research topic editors outlining the objectives and context of a Research Topic.

  • Max word count: 1,000 for 5–10 articles; up to 5,000 for more

  • Format: Title, Abstract, Introduction, References

11. Study Protocol

  • Detailed description of prospective research design. Registration in a clinical trial registry required.
